Demand: Haridwar to Kanyakumari and Rameswaram train service for Kumbh
Madurai-Dehradun-Chandigarh Exp should be extended twice a week, one day up to Kanyakumari and another day up to Rameswaram by adjusting the time
It is a well known fact that Haridwar and Rishikesh are among the holiest pilgrimage places for Hindus. The country know that the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar is starting on 1st April 2021.
Haridwar will be hosting the massive religious gathering in 2021.
A high number of pilgrims from South India are expected to visit Haridwar.
Kanyakumari District Railway Users’ Association (KKDRUA) demands and say that considering the above fact that the majority of the pilgrims are senior citizens, a direct train facility will be highly beneficial for the pilgrims.
KKDRUA said in a release that as we all know that both Kanyakumari and Rameswaram are well-known tourist and pilgrim centers of south India. We would also highlight the fact that the pilgrims who visit Kumbh Mela are also expected to visit Kanyakumari and Rameswaram as part of their pilgrimage, leading to heavy passenger traffic on this route.
Making this opportunity, KKDRUA said, the people of South India would like to thank the Indian Railways for running Special train between Kanyakumari and prayagraj on 4th and 11th February 2019 for Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh Mela. We also thank the Railways for their thoughtful arrangement for this major event.
Following the same trend, KKDRUA would like to request Railway Administration to arrange the existing train that is running between Madurai-Dehradun/Chandigarh 12687/12688 twice a week to be extended one day up to Kanyakumari and another day up to Rameswaram by adjusting the time.
“If it is done, it will be convenient for the pilgrims and tourists of Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Chandigarh. They hope their suggestion is given due consideration and expect that the pilgrims would be benefited from this”, said #KKDRUA.
