South Eastern Railway has ensured uninterrupted supply of food grains

Containing more than 1.20 lakh tonnes (45 rakes) food grains have reached South Eastern Railway jurisdiction till now in the month of June

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway has taken all possible measures in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains and other essential commodities across the country.

As per the guidelines given by the Ministry of Railways, South Eastern Railway has intensified its entire network for unabated movement of goods trains.

In the month of June, 2020 till now, more than 1.20 lakh tonnes of food grains i.e Rice and Wheat have been unloaded from 45 rakes which arrived at different stations and sidings of South Eastern Railway jurisdiction.

Out of this 1.20 lakh tonnes of food grains, more than 70,000 tonnes of rice was unloaded from 24 rakes while more than 50,000 tonnes of wheat was unloaded from 21 rakes.

The rakes were unloaded at  different locations of South Eastern Railway viz. Midnapur, Kalaikunda,  Bankura, Purulia, Bokaro Steel City, Namkon, Tatisilwai, Tatanagar, etc. during the period from 1st June to 28th June, 2020.
